It's your story. You deserve the last word.
Our "Modern Memoir" is your chance to put yourself or a loved one on camera and tell your story. This may be because you fear your time is short. Or you worry your friend or loved one's memory is fading--and you want to capture their spark...before it slips away. Video has that power to preserve their laugh, their smile, the voice and their unique brilliance. So you can have it now and save it forever. As a legacy to be remembered by.
Back in the day, it used to be considered morbid to think about or plan for your own death. But that was then.
Today, it's not only practical, but thoughtful to plan ahead. When you make your last wishes known, it takes a lot of stress off those who you leave behind. It's truly a gift you give to your survivors.
Another gift people are giving to their family and friends is their presence at their own memorial services. On video. The finality of death is so overwhelming...and nothing is more devastating than knowing you will never see your loved one or hear their voice again. Except, now you can.
When you make your own Modern Memoir, it's your chance to say, "I love you all. Thank you for loving me. Please, let's celebrate the wonderful life I was able to have with all of you. I miss you and I know you'll miss me, too. But let's take a few minutes to talk about the good times we had together."
It is not easy to make a video like this. It takes great courage to face a camera and know you are making it largely for others to view. But it's worth remembering how much comfort your presence will bring, even if it's just on a screen. And there's no way to measure how meaningful it will be for those who love you to get to hear you say goodbye. In your own words.

"I planned for my death so that I could figure out how I wanted to live the rest of my life," proclaims Andrea.
After surviving cancer that was diagnosed in her senior year of college, she was forced once again in her 40's to confront what the cancer cure (radiation) had done to her heart. Despite the setbacks, Andrea remains determined to live her life "true to myself, walking my path and experiencing every moment as it comes--whatever it is." Sitting down to create a video that one day may be used at your own memorial takes a combination of courage, chutzpah and class. Click here to listen to what else went into Andrea's decision to tell us the story of her life...and share messages of love to her family and friends. |

Anne has enjoyed a busy and beautiful life, surrounded by children, grandchildren and many great memories. But recently, some of those memories have started to slip away.
To preserve them for herself, her siblings and her own children, her daughter, Andrea, invited us to sit down with Anne in the cozy living room of her Memory Care apartment. Anne delighted in sorting through some favorite old photos. And with gentle prompts, was able to tell stories of her life growing up in Canada, summers at the cabin when the kids were small, and her wedding day over 50 years ago. You can see a short sample of our visit with Anne here. Do you have a parent or family member who's stories you'd like to hold tight to? To learn more, you can contact us here. |
